I am watching the sun come up over Mount Rainier, and it is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life.

You should all be so jealous. Trust me on this.

My flight out of Syracuse was scheduled for 2, but got delayed until 3:15. Because of this, I got to M/SP at 5:05- leaving me ten minutes to run from A-13 to F-13- from one extreme end of the building to the other. And the damn thing is like, two miles long or something. I missed my flight to Seattle by three minutes, and couldn't get another until 9:28.

There is very little to do in an airport for four hours when you're pissed off at everyone.

But, four hours passes relatively quickly, and before I knew it I was in Seattle. Which from the air, at night, is spectacular.

Jeannette met me at the gate. She told the gate people that I was a soldier being posted to Fort Lewis and she was my military liason, and they let her through. There was much squeeing and stuff.

Then she and I and Jeremy went to dinner at 13 Coins, a wonderful restaurant with great food that is Seattle's answer to a diner. Then we went back to the hotel and crashed.

Seattle fucking rocks. I fell head over heels in love with it about ten minutes into the drive from the airport. The weather was- still is- gorgeous. Breezy and cool and sunny and perfect. We went to Pike's market first, which was great. They've got tons of cool shit in there. At one point we went to a Tully's for coffee (I say 'a Tully's' because they really are on every street corner here) and sat in a park for a while to just drink our stuff and admire the scenery.

Parrots are fun. Peroshkys are my new favorite food. Wine jelly is very, very interesting. The people who work at the Lusty Lady are always behind in their work, and want us all to have an erotic day (at least according to the marquis out front.)

We also went to the Seattle Art Museum. They've got some really nice work in there, but the best part was definitely getting to go to a tea ceremony. They have a little tea house set up in the Japanese art section, and twice a month they do Cha No Yu demonstrations. We didn't have reservations, but Jean and I managed to make it in on the fly, because they had two empty seats. Jeremy wasn't particularly interested and went off to explore the fourth floor. It was very peaceful and pretty (and very abbreviated. Lol) and we had a great time. We decided that we fully approved of the host's kimono, which was a mint green color with a cascading pattern of lords and ladies coming down from the shoulder to the hem, with a burgundy obi.

For The Group, I got African Porquipine quills in the gift shop. It seemed really random- porquipine quills? In Seattle? But they're extremely sharp, so maybe that's a good thing. *shrugs* I'm going to bring them back some rocks, too.

*SQUEES AND POINTS TO ICON!!!!!* THE SPACE NEEDLE WAS SO FUCKING AWESOME.

You can see EVERYTHING from up there. It's so wonderfully, wonderfully windy, too.

And no, before anyone asks (although Tom already did *rolls eyes*) I could not get onto the actual roof. Dark Angel can get onto the roof. Dark Angle cannot. But she can run around the observation deck like she owns the place- except when someone's taking a picture and you have to wait to pass them until they're finished.

Standing up there and looking down on downtown Seattle and Mount Rainier, I decided that I am going to wind up out here one day.

Now all I need is my Ninja ;)

We went to dinner at Sakura's, which is kind of like Ichiban's, where they cook on the table in front of you and all. Things were going along, cook, cook, cook, light things on fire, cook, eat, la la. But then two waitresses come over with dessert- and one of the little sherbert cups has a candle in it, and she sets that one down in front of me. At this point, I'm like, WTF? and turn to Jeannette, who is grinning like a maniac.

"Happy Belated Birthday," she said, and they sang Happy Birthday to me in English and Japanese before taking our picture with a Polaroid camera. My face got really, really red, but it was pretty awesome. The search for The Magical Mystical Scanner will continue when I get back, because that picture so needs to be posted in here.

I am so, so incredibly happy right now. I'm with Jeannette again; it's been so hard to hang out with her the way I want to, since she's in the army and travelling and all. I miss her all the time. Jeremy is really cool. Washington rocks, and odd as this sounds, smells wonderful. Jean actually lives in Olympia, which is about an hour away from Seattle, and from what I can see of it from Jean's balcony, it's pretty sweet too. She really loves it here.

Anyway, this entry has been slowly composed over the course of two hours, and I think it's about time that I got my act together and hopped in the shower and stuff. Then I think I'll go exploring for a little while- Jean said something about a park across the street. Sounds like fun to me.
