Nothing going on here; everyone's flown home for Yom Kippur. I'm all alone. Just me and my internets. Which is just as well, considering that I'm not feeling that great and the peace and quiet is nice.

I also have a ton of work to do, so I can get going on that.

I've got two of the t-shirts sewn for the CA show; all that's left to do is add the paint and sequin details. Mark's shirt still has to get done, though, but I can't do that until we do the red dyebath, which won't be until Reyna gets her skirt ordered. I hope she gets it over the next couple of days, cause I'd like to get going with it. The show is only a couple of weeks away and I've still got a paper and a midterm to deal with.

And after that? COSPLAY TIME!!!

Dad's given me a corner of the office to use as my own costume shop, which is great- I can have a clean, controlled area to work in... no greasy tables that are used to eat off of, no crumbs, no people to move things and disturb them, and a large space so I can do large-scale costuming. There's even a space out back where we can do all kinds of messy paint work and not have to worry about stupid things like paint droplets in carpet or whatever.

We've been doing this little center adagio in class that is beautiful, although simple. I was kicking around the idea of filming it set to music, along with the waltz combination we've been doing. Initially, I thought this music (from Le Portrait de Petite Cossette) would be good, but when I was marking it there's something a little off in the beat. Although I marked it again just now and it worked... I think I'm getting a little thrown off because you don't hear the third beat in the percussion, it's more like, 1,2,-, and I just need to count it right and not get thrown off.

Well, none of that seems to have made any sense. Regardless, this plan makes the otaku in me a happy camper.

Maybe I'll talk to Jesse about choreographing a piece to all this geek music that I have. I've scoured Youtube, and there really isn't any ballet set to LOTR, FF, or any of the music that really moves me and makes me want to dance. I've been working on choreographing a company piece using Silent Hill music, but that's still far from completion.

Speaking of ballet + otaku. I wish with all my heart that Princess Tutu cosplayers would stay the hell away from pointe shoes. Okay. I get it. Believe me, I do! However, wanting to "feel like a ballerina" isn't worth breaking your ankles, Miss I-can't-stay-over-my-boxes-with-a-side-of-extra-sickle. I mean, take a few lessons before you do "ballet poses" with your hips all over the place, terrible posture, and turnout that's not- you turn out from the hips, not from your feet, kthnx. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

/rant

In other news, my degages are improving. And I've mastered the art of doing a grand battement with squared hips- not quite as high as they were going now, but that's because I wasn't doing a GB, I was doing a spiral warmup. Damn you, figure skating! Damn you and your beautiful open spirals!!!
