OMFchrist what a grueling finals week.

Did Latin on Monday morning, which was okay, except it was a completely new test format. An easier test format. But one that required an entirely different type of studying than what we've been doing all year. Haven't gotten the grade back on that one yet.

Got an A in my Islamic Spain class. wOOt.

Took my French final on Wednesday morning. It was generally okay except for the fact that the subjunctive tense was heavily emphasized. No problem, right? I can totally remember all the subjunctive endings.

YEAH. I KNOW THEM. IN LATIN.

Couldn't for the life of me remember the French ones. Long story short, sweated through that test. Wound up with a B+ in the class; how, I'm not sure.

Then went straight to my music final. I was fine through the first two listening sections, and it all went downhill from there. By the end of the test, the sinus headache that I could feel all morning had erupted, I was about to puke, and the lack of sleep and stress got to me. I had lost the notes for my pre-assigned essay before I memorized the damn thing, and bullshitted it off the cuff. Which might have turned out okay, but... I waxed a little odd at the end. The question was something like this:

"Medieval music often used parts from other musical works as a basis. This trend slowed and then stopped altogether by the fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth centuries, and composers were writing original works. Do you agree, why or why not."

I put that I agreed, and to sum up, it was like music had outgrown the need to use other pieces of music in various works. Then I likened it to the training wheels coming off the bicycle of music, allowing the composer to ride free into realms hitherto only imagined. I was so wrapped up in this image of "music growing up" that I got all emotional and started to cry about it.

Spent that night and the next night at home with an awful, unshakable headache. Came to Camillus this morning. I took a bath and did a hair mask and might take a nap at some point.

I feel slightly more human now. Kind of.
