RP story, for those of you interested in this little "project," it will look somewhat like this...
Niri sighed as she looked out the window. Snow fell in lazily to the courtyard far below the ramparts on which she stood. She pulled her cloak a little tighter around her shoulders, telling herself that she'd wait just a few more minutes before she went back inside.
A large explosion from somewhere below her startled her, but she relaxed when she heard the string of curses in several different languages that followed a few seconds later. *Darkshade must be experimenting again,* she thought idly, holding her skirt up as she ran down the steps to his workshop.
"Good afternoon, Feather," he said cordially, wiping soot off his face. Niri laughed, wondering for the thousandth time how he could stay so composed when things literally blew up in his face.
"What're you working on?" she asked, peering over his shoulder at the things spread out on the worktable behind him.
Darkshade followed her line of sight. "That? Oh, it's just some stuff I'm experimenting with... napalm... shotguns..." He grinned and showed her a new weapon he was working on. "It's not finished yet. I'm not even sure what it will do." He set the weapon back on the table and picked up a sheaf of arrows. "Will you take these up to Nelys for me? She ran out after the Orc-hunting expedition."
"Of course." Niri took the proferred arrows as Darkshade turned back to his napalm. "See you later," she said as she left.
Nelys, she assumed, was probably still in bed, sleeping off the effects of the "celebration" she's had the night before with Morgoth. Quietly she crept down the long stone hallway, pausing at a door on the right that bore a sign that read, "Nelys's Room."
The door squeaked slightly as she pushed it open. Nelys was asleep, her head resting on Morgoth's chest. Quickly Niri laid the arrows on the music stand, careful not to knock over the flamethrower that was propped up against it, where Nelys would surely see them. Then she backed out, closing the door behind her.
Niri opened up the door to her own bedchamber, which was just across the hall from Nelys's. She sat down at her loom, but weaving just wasn't that appealing at that moment. Nor was drawing, or writing, or painting. She couldn't practice singing because Nelys was asleep. *Maybe I should go see if Celeborn is feeling better?*
That didn't appeal to her either. *It's this damn weather, it's dragging me down,* she thought irritably, idly playing with one of the pearls in her hair. *Maybe I'll go swimming. It's been a long time since I've done that. Too long,* she mused, lifting the pendant that hung around her neck at eye level.
In her mind, she fixed a picture of a sandy beach, with white-crested waves sparkling in warm summer sunlight. The room around her spun out of focus as her feet lifted up from the ground. Niri shut her eyes tightly. When she opened them again, she was on the beach she’d visualized.
"Perfect," she said, throwing her cloak into the sand and running into the waves.
Something like that, anyway. Obviously alot less me and alot more other people, but you get the point. Pssh.
Got an email back from Aaron. He loves fantasy as much as I do. A man after my own heart *sigh*
So anyway let me know what you think of the RP thing.
