I’ve just read an article that says that humans are altruistic creatures. It’s an interesting article, which sounds mostly true. Stemming from the whole Enron issue, it’s about how we all seem to turn on and despise cheaters, no matter what the background is. The same can be said for relationships- “She cheated?! What a bitch.” As yet I have not decided whether or not altruism is a bad thing. Would I take a bullet for someone I loved? Yes. Would I take a bullet for some poor bastard walking down the street? Yes. Does that make me altruistic? Seems like. The human psyche is just too much for me to wrestle with right now. I guess I should figure myself out first, you know?
Heh. Here’s altruism for you: Always forgive your enemies. Nothing pisses them off more.
But maybe I’m just being cynical? I’m in that kind of mindset.
I try to have faith in people, in myself, and in the order of living things which I guess exists. Things are born; things die. All you can do is learn to accept that, as harsh and impersonal as it is, and move on. If that’s what faith is it’s pretty dismal.
