CSI madness! Run!
"Once upon a time, there was a dead body. Kelsey and Natalie found it washed up on the river bank.
"The two young ladies stood over the cadaver, staring at it in dismay. When lo! down the street there came Grissom, the solution to all their problems.
"Kelsey and Natalie pointed the unfortunate vicitm out to the Crime Lab Supervisor, who sent them to stand a safe distance away (so as not to contaminate the scene) and began to process the evidence.
"Alas! The poor bastard had died too close to the river's edge, and Grissom slipped on a piece of seaweed and fell in!
"But a kindly fairy, passing by, took pity on Grissom and turned him into a frog, so that he may not drown.
"This astounded Kelsey and Natalie, who chittered excitedly. They were still babbling at each other when the resident lab rat, Greg, came along, searching for his boss.
"He approached the girls. 'Have you seen Grissom?' he asked them. Natalie told him in great detail what had happened, going on to great length while Kelsey stood by in awe, too tongue tied to speak in the presence of her crush.
"After a bit Greg finally escaped from their clutches, walking down to the edge of the water to find poor Grissom. And then- oh! Greg, too, tripped and fell into the water. The kindly (and now vastly amused) fairy quickly turned Greg into a frog. The two amphibious creatures shared a large lily pad, croaking happily.
"Two minutes later Sara came along, searching for her supervisor and co-worker. She hailed Kelsey and Natalie; trying to get the confusing story out of the latter was proving difficult; the other girl merely wailed 'Greg! No, not Greg!' over and over. Yet after a time, she figured out what happened.
"Heather, looking for her little sister, found said sibling incoherent with grief standing next to Natalie and not that far away from the latest object of her affection. Once glance told her all that had happened, and where the current situation was headed.
"Just in the nick of time, Heather called to Sara, 'Don't slip!' and tossed her a stick so that the CSI might keep her balance. Nodding her thanks, the older woman scooped the two frogs into a large evidence jar and stepped back onto the lawn.
"Sara frowned at her transformed companions in dismay. 'What on earth am I supposed to do now?' she wondered. Everyone looked on in silence. Then Sara realized that there was only one thing she could do.
"Borrowing a shoebox from Heather, she poked a couple of holes in the lid and put the frogs formerly known as Grissom and Greg inside. Then she took them home to Vegas, where they lived out in froggy contentment in an aquarium on Catherine's desk.
"The End."
"But did she kiss them to turn them back?" Heather asked her mother with one eyebrow raised in what might be considered a sly manner.
Her mother snorted. "She wasn't kissing any frogs in the forseeable future." Heather's mother was not a big Grissom fan.
I love my mother, when she tells me stories even though she doesn't want to.
